The retail environment we all love and appreciate is saturated with products, brands and a level of competition that is fierce beyond conception, which is why finding the right products [for us] are often a battle I am sure we all can relate to... an-expensive-yay-I-did-a-haul-but-am-going-to-regret-this-next-month-when-the-credit-card-statement-comes-in-and-I-find-out-I-hate-these-products kind of battle. The struggle is real! In the beauty world, the concept of ‘one size fits all’ is as erroneous as a trend that never fades – it just doesn’t exist. Not only is everyone after his or her own results, but they are also going to respond differently to each and every product. So unfortunately, when it comes to beauty, finding your ‘match’ is sometimes often always a gamble (am I right, or am I right?!). However, there is one way to combat the overwhelming overload of retail rapture; that is, by turning to our fellow beauty comrades and delving deep into the wonderful realm of literary heaven – reviews, duh! So here are my personal recommendations of my top five beauty product favorites [of all time], as in, it’ll take an army to come between these products and me!
1. Philosophy : Purity Made Simple Face Wash
To start, I cannot begin without stressing the importance of a good skincare regimen. Makeup can perform optimally only when applied to a clean and healthy canvas. Purity Made Simple is a comprehensive face wash that not only removes makeup and cleanses away dirt but it also contains a toner and moisturizer! I swear by this stuff – it is my HG face wash. I have tried so many things and for me, nothing makes my face feel cleaner. I love you, Purity!
2. Axel : Vitamin E Pure Skin Oil
I am going to let you all in on a secret (well it’s totally not a secret but it unfortunately is often overlooked) – the single most important step in your daily skincare regime ought to be practicing prevention. Just because you do not have any fine lines yet, does not mean you shouldn’t be working to prevent them. Vitamin E is an extremely valuable antioxidant that the body cannot produce on its own. In a nutshell, it protects and repairs your skin against collagen damage, fine lines, wrinkles and dryness. Key words here: PROTECTS and REPAIRS, so whether you are in your twenties or fifties, Vitamin E is always your friend. Some people just puncture a vitamin E capsule and apply the oil directly under their eyes, but I love Axel’s Vitamin E Pure Skin Oil because I apply it directly and I’m done! HG?! I think so!
3. MAC : Pro Longwear Concealer
I have tried so many under eye concealers and I always come back to my absolute favorite: MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. It provides medium to full coverage and flawlessly covers up under eye darkness and discoloration. It is ahhh-mazing and definitely one of my all time favorite products!
4. Dior Airflash Spray Foundation
Nothing looks better than airbrush foundation but we don’t always have the time for Dinair and Belloccio so when I discovered Dior’s Airflash Spray Foundation I knew I had to try it – and I am so glad I did because I love it! It is super lightweight but does a fantastic job at covering up facial imperfections and because it is in a compressed can, it comes out so cold and feels so refreshing on the skin. A word of advice though, because airbrush foundation has a different formulation then other foundations, I do not recommend using it with a beauty blender because it’ll absorb most of it. I love applying it with the Sigma Flat Kabuki F80.
5. Anastasia Beverly Hills: Dipbrow Pomade
There is a reason why they call her the Queen of brows – Anastasia’s DIPBROW pomade is hands down the absolute best brow product… like EVER! It is so easy to work with and lasts all day without ever smudging. It looks so natural and gives my brows the added definition they need. I use a slanted brow brush to apply. I won’t even dare try anything else because I honestly think it cannot get better than this.
So here is a toast; a toast to the ones that have never faltered, never failed and never disappointed – to those products that have never relinquished their commitment to be the best they can be; and those that have stood the test of time. A toast to our favorites!
